Artist Rendition

The first image is Robert Doisneau's original portrait of the 'Musician in the Rain'. I made a sort of tribute  to this picture. I first took the picture of my brother holding the umbrella and the guitar next to him. The guitar couldn't stay by itself so I had to put a few books behind it and a stool. Then I used the same Hue and Saturation as the Original image. The guitar, umbrella, pose, and curb are all identical to the original. The fact that the person in the photo has black pants and a light colored long rain coat I decided to do the opposite by making my person wear light pants and a short pea coat. The background of the original is clear skies, the ground was damp, and the stairs are going down. My image has grass and bleachers in the background as well as dry sidewalks and the steps are leading up.

Did your artists work in other artistic Mediums (paint, clay etc?)

Why is he or she a photographer? In WWII, Doisneau was drafted and used his engraving skills to forge identification papers and passorts. Then he started taking pictures of the occupation and liberation of Paris
What inspires his/her work? The childhood of the regular children in France was some of his inspiration. He looked at the dressing patterns and the pictures that he took were like a memory of Post War fashion.

Has your artists encountered any hardships or successes in his or her life that are directly reflected in their work?

Your image:
Why did you select this image? I like black and white pictures. The way that the little boy is following the exact motions of the two older gentlemen is amusing. I think that it will be interesting to try and imitate this image.

How would you describe your photographers style? (in your own words) The photographers style is common day things made amusing. When you look at his pictures you see common people in candid poses.
After researching the photographer what have you found most interesting about his/her photographic style or image production? The use of children in almost every single shot it like a signature of his.

How are you planning to recreate your photographers image? I am planning on using  the artist's idea and theme of the picture to recreate the photo. I am going to try to get imitate the photographers image into my own, kind of like a tribute to him.

What images do you anticipate taking to recreated this image? (i.e. describe the shots you intend to take to reach your final goal) I am going to try and get my little cousin to walk behind my uncles or older cousins to get the same emotion as Robert Doisneau. If that doesn't work then i am going to take pictures of short teenager to kneel down and one of them standing in the same spot so that i can just photoshop the image so it looks like they were small .

A quote from Robert Doisneau about his work: "In fact there isn't any recipe - that would be too easy - but all these images that are growing old so gracefully were taken instinctively. I put all my trust in intuition, which contributes so much more than rational thought. This is a commendable approach, because you need courage to be stupid - it's so rare these days when there are so many intelligent people all over the place who've stopped looking because they're so knowledgeable. Yet that little extra something supplied by the model is precisely a `look,' like a legacy handed down to you from the distant past. It shoots straight along the optical axis and bores right through the photographer, the celluloid, the paper, and the viewer, like a laser beam scorching everything in its path, including, and a very good thing too, your critical faculties."

When you complete worksheet and discuss ideas with you may begin  creating Power Point presentation.
